Former President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has firmly stated that he will only accept the outcome of the December 7 elections if the process is transparent and credible. Speaking to the BBC, he expressed concerns about potential electoral malpractices, including violence and intimidation, which could undermine the integrity of the polls.

Mahama highlighted the significance of a fair election, warning against issues like ballot snatching, voter intimidation, and military interference. He questioned, “If on election day, there is widespread ballot snatching, beating of people, military intimidation, and thugs causing chaos, you expect me to accept that result?” His position underscores that only a transparent process will ensure his acceptance of the results.

With tensions high in Ghana’s political landscape, Mahama called on the Electoral Commission to guarantee a peaceful and credible election. He stressed that maintaining fairness is essential for preserving the nation’s democracy and building public trust in the electoral outcome.
